None More Hopelessly Enslaved

Lucky People Center - "Rodney King"

it's not gonna change anything
i felt anger
it's not right
i felt pain

... and the pain will linger until we break with our recent past, finally and fully. Segregation-by-law only ended six decades ago in the USA, Apartheid a mere two decades ago, yet intercultural discrimination and prejudice still seem to rule the streets and even slavery persists throughout our common present.

It may take generations before we break the final shackle that binds us to skin-deep squabbling and other futilities before we meet each other in the middle, celebrate the difference and taste the very spice of life. In the meantime, we may continue to dream whilst awake, but we must guard our Self against falling asleep, never succumb to the comfort of slumber, for history may repeat until its bitter end.

It does not take a full understanding of the Hegelian dialectic, of how we may unwittingly add to the tactics of problem-reaction-solution, to see the frivolous nature of fighting fire with fire. But do not ask me; ask any firefighter, ask Bruce, ask your Self.

Can we all just get along?
Well, dear Barry ... can we?
