For a second time around, the Bom Voyage crew surfaces overground at one the sweetest locations in Amsterdam. Yes, sweet indeed. The SugarFactory has added a fine share of flavor to the local clublife, ever since its inception. As of 2014, Bom Voyage will frequently mix a proper blend of psychosonic spices and fluorescent herbs with their jampacked stew. The recipe for this weekend's menu goes as follows:

A Necronomical Eulogy

It seems most plausible to me, one of my favorite movies may have never made the impression on me, the way it did, without the work of Swiss artist Hans Rudolf -known to most, simply as- Giger. Equally safe it seems to say, that all the combined effort of both cast and crew, would never have made that particular movie as succesful as it has become, without the involvement of Giger in the process of its creation. Et vice versa: without Alien, the artist himself may have never made it to a level of world fame or to the doorstep of my personal attention.

As much as the two siblings, known as May Have and Would Have, could have opened the doors to those and countless other parallel universes, the movie Alien, one of the most famous scary stories told in modern times, opened the eyes of the world to embrace the art of Giger. In turn, his very art helped the scifi-horror genre and monster-movies alike leap out from the pale shadows of silliness and bathe in the rays of starlit darkness.

In the near future humanity will most likely remember Giger as the most influential surrealist artist of our common present, and honor him for imprinting the cultural zeitgeist with his art, his crafts and creatures of flesh, machine and bone in ink, metal and stone - the amazing, the bizarre, the fantastic spawn of his mind and his alone.

Nowadays, when notified about renewing a particular piece of personally permissive paperwork, the government reminds us to "please keep your hands tidy and clean, as fingerprints will be taken." Trying hard not to feel guilty-until-proven-innocent, one cannot quite escape the urge to look in and cry out, in disbelief rather than despair:
"What the flying fungus? Goddess please, bear with me!"

It started off with the incorporation of an rfid-tracking-device, which became combined with facial and iris recognition. Next up: DNA-samples at work? A short stop at the Piss Police to drop a sample before shopping? Beyond a distant horizon, Kafka and Orwell pull up their frowns in astonishment and laugh out loud in sardonic ridicule.

To repeat another tranquilizing mantra: if you've got nothing to hide, you've got nothing to worry about. Right. Carry on, move along, nothing to see here. At such moments it seems best to keep it [+] and share a good laugh about it with Robert Anton Wilson, our Uncle Bob.
