Messenger of Dionysos · Mused by Apollo

In ancient times, Satyr was the horned and horny messenger of Eleusinian forest god Dionysos. He mesmerized the youth of nearby villages with the musical magic of his flute and made them dance till broad daylight. In our common present, the spirit of Satyr inhabits the body of a human boy.

Searching for a new way to spread the vibe of the forest, by Dionysian decree, Satyr switched to SL and CDJ instruments, which fit the job quite nicely. Apart from those, he employs the tools Apollo chose: a blank screen and virtual ink, to jot down all he likes to think - hence this his satellite here, orbiting Earth's blogosphere!

Day Out Of Time ☉ 2017

Blue Spectral Storm

Thirteen months of twenty-eight days add up to 13 x 28 = 364 days in a year. This leaves out one day to complete the year as a 365 day cycle, and that one day exists as the Leap Day in traditional Mayan astronomy: the Day Out Of Time - today, July 25.

Whether we choose to embrace the Galactic Dreamspell calendar or consult the traditional Mayan Tzolk'in, on the Day Out Of Time we can find each other encompassing a center point in our midst:
the Maya did not manufacture a key to unlock some sort of doomsday device; they gained access to ingredients of a natural calendar, in full phase with terrestrial, lunar, solar, galactic and cosmic rhythms, unlike that good ol' Gregorian timepiece that keeps on keeping us in check chack check chack check chack ...

Time has come to dance instead of march
- dance to the beat of the Sun.

Hic Nunc, Templum Nostrum Temporis

Manual Evasão LX94 / Manual of Evasion LX94

A movie about Time? About time, it seems in deed! More than a movie: a cine-cosmopolitan feature. Even more so: about the Nature of Time, the persistent Arrow of Time, the illusive Short-Time Mob and the infamous Timewave Theory, to articulart more specifictionally without (f)actually trying to overdo it, apart from simply doing it. A week, a day and an hour after the Day out of Time, the timing sure feels timely. Time to enter the Here-Now, our Temple of Time.
Time to enter LX94.

· fantasized / realized / directed by:
Edgar Pera (Portugal, 1994)

· featuring nonother than the likes of the following non-authoritarian authors, and their boundless, boundary dissolving, scientific unlikes:
Terence McKenna, Rudy Rucker and Robert Anton Wilson

· a few fnord excerpted samples:

TMK: Higher animals, such as ourselves, with a regular heartbeat and regular breathing, are not aware that we are surrounded by many many kinds of time happening simultaneously. (...) There are six, seven billion people on this planet, experiencing different fates. (...) People are living in different times and living at different scales of time. Some people have a 1994 mind, some people have a 1955 mind, some people are living in the nineteenth century. (...lunch-trip-break...) The entire history of the Universe has led to this momentous occurrence, and human beings and the cultures of the late twentieth century are to be the birthing mechanism for a new order of space and time, that will emerge very, very suddenly.

Science gives us the Big Bang.
I give you the Big Surprise.

- Terence McKenna, at 1m49s & 35m36s

RAW: The Short-Time Mob, that's responsible. They are the most dangerous of the extra-terrestrial invaders on this planet, right now, they're always stealing time. The only way to evade them is to remain in a state of continuous attention and astonishment about everything. If you don't pay attention they move in and take over your whole life. You get up, you write a letter, you go to the post office, you post it, you find it's four in the afternoon. What happened? The Short-Time Mob stole most of your time.*

- Robert Anton Wilson, at 8m26s

RR: Chaos is not the same as disorder.** Pure disorder has no structure. High temperatures, high speeds of time. You can't keep track, nothing makes sense. (...wind...) The good times go fast, the bad times go slow. You can reverse it, in certain ways. Smoking certain kinds of cigarettes may make time go slower.

- Rudy Rucker, at 14m38s & 18m23s

TMK: How can we control the rhythm of our time? The techniques are too, my friend. The control of the breath, which controls heartbeat, but more importantly, the use of hallucinogenic plants such as have been discovered in the Amazon by the aboriginees. They understand, you see, that the consciousness of the plants is a different kind of time, a much slower time. So, if we would enter to that sort of time, we must take the plant into our body. It cannot be done any other way. This is the secret of shamanism. Then we enter into the time of the plant mind, the Gaian mind, that moves much more slowly.***

- Terence McKenna, at 19m04s

Taking the plant into our body to enter into the time of the plant mind. Remaining in a state of continuous attention and astonishment. Smoking certain kinds of cigarettes to make time go slower. Well, ... whether or not one may agree with the theories of these three temporal mages and their time-warping practices, it does seem like a sensible idea to touch base with the bottom line of LX94, and avoid boredom, evade routine, enhance novelty and transcend time.

On the other hand, if one may fail to enjoy the cinematic content of this pseudomentary, one may at least employ it to increase one's conversation skills in Portuguese.

Or so mote it seem.

Time Is On Our Side

Quantum Cosmosophy for Dummies - part 2

Time is an illusion. Lunchtime doubly so. *

What is Time? A universal dimension? A physical quantity to measure progress? A figment of humaniversal imagination? As ubiquitous and infinite in supply as it may seem from the viewpoint of our daily lives, we have yet to explain what it really is. We are actually part of the process we know as time. Therefore, in order to fully comprehend and define it, we might have to step outside of time. Until then, it may seem to be a physical component instead of an abstract concept of our Universe.

Entropy is the thermodynamic entity that drives our sense of time, as much as it steers every process in our Universe towards higher degrees of disorder. Every action and reaction, all work and movement takes place due to an increase in entropy. Indeed, it gives direction to everything in the Universe, all space and time included. One might even think or express that thought by saying: entropy shapes our Universe.

Our sense of time, seemingly moving from past to future, is caused by our perception of entropy in action. Perception is an entropically driven process itself, so our sense of time seems to come from the relationship between the entropy of external and our own, internal processes. And if this is indeed where our notion of time spawns from, it is based on local, differential variations in the entropy of these non-simultaneous processes. Applying Galilean relativization: if all universal processes would proceed and interact at the same, constant rate, how could the progress of processes i.e. time itself, be measured or even noticed from the inside?

Maybe our perception of time and its direction is an effect of these interrelating variations between cyclic, discrete and continuous yet non-simultaneous processes, progressing inside, around and beyond ourselves, across all scales of the universe. As close or far from it as this may be, science itself, as modern as it may be, does not seem to fully grasp what exactly makes time tick. Apart from being a dimension of spacetime and providing the clockwork to measure the progress of events, time keeps boggling the minds of physicists and cosmosophers alike, as can be seen in the second part of Brian Greene's The Fabric Of The Cosmos:

The Illusion of Time

Time and the more it changes ...

"The idea of causality, of life
moving under the power of the past
is so ingrained in our common sense,
that it's very difficult to get rid of it,
because I want to turn the thing 'round,
completely the other way, and say that
the past is the result of the present.

The Matrix Of All Matter

"All matter originates and exists only by virtue of a force, which brings the particle of an atom to vibration and holds this most minute solar system of the atom together. We must assume behind this force the existence of a conscious and intelligent mind. This mind is the matrix of all matter."

Max Planck, father of quantum-mechanics, 1944

In our times it seems, the deeper science fathoms the depths of material essence, the closer it gets to understanding universal knowledge, transmitted and received throughout all space and time. Intangible connections become apparent; parallel universes branch out in a kaleidoscopic manner; invisible dimensions and infinite probabilities come to light; visuals projections of the fractal multiverse around us mirror the boundlessness within; experiments become experience.

The circumference of old facts by new theories never seizes to spiral in on the core of cosmic wisdom with ever-decreasing radius, yet with ever-increasing levels of complexity when translating the development of its omnipresent continuity in discrete slices of human knowledge. Constant changes challenge consciousness to reiterate its parameters to gauge the evolution of physical properties that shape our common reality.

Focusing our perspective perception and synchronizing the apprehension rate of our reality-transducing nodes may enable us to collate and harmonize all subjective intuition; to collect and expand our consciousness to a planetary level; to extend our waves of thought throughout a wider frame of scales; to tap deeper from the source of the Universal Mind and learn to comprehend:

all is one, all is none
as above, so below.

Day Out Of Time - July 25, 2011

Day Out Of Time - July 25, 2011 - Red Overtone Skywalker

Red SkywalkerWhether you may or not adhere to the new age interpretations of Mayan astrology, the astronomical knowledge common to the Maya was immense. Mind you and me, they didn't have the chance to take it easy and lean on pocket calculators or to give their own brain a complete rest and use a Cray supercomputer instead.

Their calendar is in full sync with the natural frequencies of the movement of celestial bodies like the Sun, the Moon and the Earth, instead of being partly paired with unnatural periods, induced by morals and dogma of those in power. For instance: the Maya observed that in the time the Earth revolves around the Sun, the Moon takes thirteen complete right-turns of twenty-eight days around the Earth.

Thirteen moons or months of twenty-eight days adds up to 13 x 28 = 364. This leaves out one day to make the year a complete 365 day cycle, and that one day would be the Leap Day for the Maya - the Day Out Of Time, which is today, July 25.

2012 on the horizon or not, it's about time for humans to collectively drop the unnatural calendar we have been subjected to, and fully phase in to the universal rhythm, once again.

... time to dance as well.

Shadow of Time

soft watch at moment of first explosion - 1954

Shadow of Time

The past is merely a shadow that grows behind us with every choice that we make and every step that we take. It can never be turned around; only understood in a different way perhaps, when the light of a brand new day, a shining new era, directs it in another angle. Neither should it be turned around, as it would only cast its darkness on the path ahead, into the future.

Into the future is moving towards the source of light of that brand new day we tread with our steps - forward and onward, onward and upward. We have no choice but to embrace the past as it is and let it go as we will, to be ahead of the darkness and head on to the brightness. And bright they are, our future times - so mote it be.

Embrace Letting Go

Embrace Letting Go

yesterday was a choice
tomorrow does not exist

History keeps catching up on current time, casts its light into the future, spreads a certain shade over events evolving in the present. Dark or bright doesn't truly matter; what does or do is as hard as the facts that are and stay throughout all time. Accept, forgive, let be, move on - as simple as that. Do not look back in hope to change - a waste of time that's already spent, once and only, no second chance. Onward, upward, in and through and out. Embracing now as all and ever, each choice to last a life, once made.

No receipt, no return.
No 30 days, no guarantee.

It only seems to be what can be made at any given time. As we move on and up, what it seemed before will change to now until it's done and gone when we let go. There is only here. Only now .. and wow.

Yet as we think and move towards options and futures, given time may exceed all actions taken and give rise to impatience, as we cross a finish line without reaching our goal of choice. Unfulfilled expectations linger in thought and may leave us feeling half-empty instead of half-full, anxious to feel our selves filling up with the flow of time instead of waiting for it to come dripping in, drop by drop, go then stop and go again. If we fail to experience our own world apart from those around us and think of ours as the one and only definite one, the ignoring of apparent interaction may bring disappointment into ours and a draft of incoherence will leak our energy out of the realm of shared worlds and be lost forever in all background noise, cosmic at large.

We are not alone.
We are all one .. or rather:
"We are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. There is no such thing as death, life is only a dream and we are the imagination of our selves."

Thanks Bill - We needed that.

? what is Satyr

! in ancient times, Satyr roamed the Eleusinian forests as the horned and horny messenger of Dionysos - the god of ritual intoxication - who dispatched him to mesmerize the youth of nearby villages with the musical magic of his flute, and made them dance till broad daylight.

? where is Satyr

! in our recent past, Satyr reincarnated in the concrete jungle of Amsterdam as a DJ. At age ten, he recorded his first mix, displaying his love for early hip hop and electro, and soon his tapes were in high demand. After the Second Summer Of Love, he got turned on by new dimensions of synthetic sound and ventured into the realms of ambient, acid-house, techno and trance music, never looking back ever since.

? does he still play flute

! the Panflute has become an artefact in captivity, held safe and sound in the archeological archive of the Vatican. Yet, since them high-n-mighty early 1990s, Satyr became increasingly skilled as a player of the SL & CDJ instruments, spinning various styles of musica eclectronica, embracing a wide range of the bpm spectrum with remarkable sparkle.

Notoriously difficult to pigeonhole yet sharply focused on and specialized in ambient, chillout, psytrance & deep atmospheric techno; entertaining events for 5 to 50.000 people, by serving his spicy melange of clean cuts and dirty grooves, mixing it down and grinding it up from raw to smooth.

A few memorable events ecstasized by Satyr:
Amsterdam Dance Event (NL), Atmosphere (Berlin), Ballonnenfeest (NL), Burning Man (USA), Club A (Sao Paulo), Dance Valley (NL), Love & Magic (Oslo), Metsafestiwaal (Finland), Pan-O-Rama Festival (La Gomera), The Pi Club (Berlin), Q-Base (Germany), Senseblender Festival (Belgium), Universo Paralello (Bahia / Brazil), VooV Experience (Germany), and many more in Belgium, Brazil, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Lithuania, Norway, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, USA & all over The Netherlands.*
