The Fourteenth of April - 3.14 or rather Pi Day: Celebrating gladly and quite nerdishly so, and commemorating the birthday of Einstein - yes - today seems like a perfect day to commence the rehashing of previously blogged material published under the title of War No More. Happily sharing a slice with Larry[1], whilst cheering one of Albert's
less-scientific quotes, one concerning his sturdy stance on the topic of
Peace:

As quoted, Muhammad Ali in 1967, on his refusal to go to war [2] and do someone else's dirty work. A mighty statement, indeed, only adding to Ali's eligibility to become promoted to humanity's immortal ranks of Members of the Militant Order of Pacifist eXecutives, MEMOPAX for short, perhaps one of the most prominent World Peace organizations ever to rise in the Earth's near future.
Now, in our common present, it appears more clear than (n)ever: (t)here exist no other slave masters to obey but us, no other slaves to drudge but us, no other someone else than us, no other dirty work but our own, no other wars to win, lose or profit from, but ours. [3]
Interesting though, how the tougher muscles seem to share a similar perspective with the tougher minds, when it comes to dealing with issues concerning our increasingly futile warfare engagement:

We do not have to agree, in full, with one another, with another us, with ourselves, about the myriad varying ways we use to express what we may think or believe [6], how we may feel inside, or to agree about the correct color of garments to wear when heading out to work or to the battlefield, to single out two of our favorite pastime destinations ... but, or rather, to reverse-paraphrase back to Ali:
"Hating people because of their color is wrong,

Change. No problem. Life has changed ever since long before we can remember. All it seems to need: a perpetual incentive to evolve. To thrive. To survive. And so, as quite a persistent specimen amongst Life-on-Earth's current expressions, we have to adopt adaptation, adopt change in order to become more adept at changing, learning to employ a wider variety of options to solve problems we may encounter on our continuous path around the Sun.
Right now, it seems we prefer to keep struggling with our repetitive belligeronomic [9] behavior. Throwing money at our problems [10], throwing bombs on our family [11]. Pure repetition of olden ways. Quite redundant, or obsolete, actually, for it does not take a philosophoetical boxer like Ali or a heavyweight thinker like Einstein to understand, that we have to come up with more fruitful ways to overcome our evolutionary growing pains, to resist the primal domesticated primate drive to keep up our ages-old territorial squabbling, and to embrace the Earth as the global village[12] that houses our worldwide family.
Signing off after a less sarcastic session than last time [13], yet never with less love and not without quoting The Greatest, one more time:

Well, that about sums it all up in a quote and a wink. Divide et Impera - divide and rule, divide and conquer - whichever translation one fancies, down on Earth we seem to choose to fight none other than ourselves. As They do not exist, all war equals Us vs Us. We seem to participate in this repetitive shadow-boxing match: most of us fight one another, ad infinitum if not merely to the death, while most of the rest of us place our bets.
To gain understanding of Divide et Impera, its applications and implications, one needs to investigate the motto quite thoroughly, reaching for resources beyond those up for grabs, laid down at the common shoals at Wiki-depth. Doing so, one may comprehend, for instance, that the implementation of Divide et Impera strategies creates possibilities for some to rule over many, simply by creating opposition amongst the masses.
Some of us attain this goal by causing needless yet greedful competition, strife and war amidst humanity, instead of preventing "smaller power groups from linking up, causing rivalries and fomenting discord among the people" — a quote sampled from a quite simplified and rather naive interpretation, rooted in political theory, not practice (source: Wikipedia). This seems to turn the world on its head. Does it not appear logical, that unity leads to accord and division to discord?

Carefully examining this subject matter should help to clear the sky and enable to shed more light on one's own comprehension of the illusory character of the Us vs Them paradigm, one of humanity's generally preferred collective hallucinations.

Wittily and winkfully ignoring any degree of new age blabble apparent in the introductory soundtrack to this post (no offense, excuse my pardon, maestri Jammin' Unit and Dr Walker), we do indeed welcome our space brothers.
As a matter of non-fictional fact, we welcome them home and cordially so. However, they did not travel by ufo - not from our own perspective. After revolving around the Earth for a year, yet not breaking the 1995 record by far (chapeau to Polyakov the Champ), American astronaut Scott Kelly and Russian cosmonaut Mikhail Kornienko will return from the International Space Station to our shared surface under the Sun, later today*.
Apart from their safe return, let's look forward to these men arranging a rendez-vous with Barack Obama and Vladimir Putin to pull an Edgar Mitchell** on them or at least share all their stories to exemplify how Yankees, Russkies and the rest of us can learn to get along and get along just fine - just to show how ri di q lous it seems that the myopic nature of politics repeatedly causes the progress of progress to come to a screeching halt.
With towering amounts of pro- and antipaganda, mudslung piles reaching heaven high, we continually blow sand in each other's eyes. We imagine, that the excrements-in-ink we use to draw maps on pieces of paper and the excrements-in-pixels we use to draw maps on The Screen in between us, actually describe the world outside our windows, but on the contrary: nature does not recognize nations, nor does it draw lines in the sand. Yet, by doing so ourselves, we send our children to war, to sacrifice our future for the sake of greed, continually ignoring the simple fact, that we cannot survive alone - only together as one.
It appears to me it doesn't take a view of Mother Earth from the surface of the Moon to recognize the unity in our diversity, but perhaps it may help. In that case: go ESA and go humanity! In the meantime, before we gaze back at Earth from our future moonbase: ! Miru Mir - Peace to the World !

Equipped with an uncommon sense of common sense, Bucky's intelligence only came second after his unbridled love for humanity and all (other) Life on Earth. Often, he seemed far ahead of his time, although he himself thought any avant-garde never precedes the rest of the herd any further than twenty-five years[3]. Of course, twenty-five years ahead of time does seem like quite the long yardstick along the length of an individual's life. On another shtick, when considering the long run of Life on Earth, as Bucky tended to do, a quarter century may feel like a mere blink of Life's third eye. Whatsoever seems the semantic case, Bucky understood the precious nature of time and its current availability to humanity. Growing increasingly aware of the idea that we may need to share as much of it as possible, he decided to shift his focus from personal gain and individual profit to collective wealth and reciprocal well-being. He summed this up in a sentence - a motto, if you will:
"You have to decide whether you want to make money or to make sense, because the two are mutually exclusive."
Paraphrasing the previous: making money does not make sense. Unless one owns a bank. Adding a personal variation to the theme: money does not aid trade[4] the way it ever seemed intended to do. On the contrary, our current issues with the issuing of currency[5] - its ever-declining value turning into ever-increasing debt[6], the recurring[7]monetary[8]crises[9], the accompanying normalization of greed and such - only seem to pull the rug from under our own economy by limiting trade to the purpose of hoarding money.
Adding a monetary value to money itself, feels like bringing water to the sea. Quite a similar superfluity seems involved in both processes, yet oceans do not tend to charge interest on the amount of water they loan to the land. Vicious circles turn downward spirals. The illusion of social inequivalence, a collective hallucination of societal stratification, driven by mounting financial inequity, seems to fuel the fire of warfare by feeding its flame with greed.
We allow to evaporate multiple trillions of monetary and other resources on warfare (or defense, if one prefers to bury one's head under a dune of politically correct sand) and still a majority amongst us complains about investing multiple millions in extending, for instance, our (public and outer) space exploration programs, unless we fearfully militarize such ventures, ergo: we display a tendency to divide and fight one another and destroy ourselves[10], rather than to cooperate with each other and thrive together.
Quite naturally but less logically, we repeat such familiar behavior, common to us since before the dawn of historical time. However, options less self-desctructive should not seem too hard to imagine, no less hard to realize, unless we really enjoy becoming the gorilla on our own back. Working together on constructive solutions may take more patience than devoting our time to the regurgitation of violence, but didn't we once define insanity as "doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results"? Again: if our use of sharp sticks, knives, guns, bombs, drones and independently targeting particle beam phalanxes[11] would solve our problems, we would live in a world without problems.
Instead of simply touching gloves, the friendly gesture before a fiendish fight, we should extend helping hands, to embrace our world together. Some time ago, Bucky and others saw through the redundancy of trying to solve a problem either with politics or with warfare, either by throwing money at it or by employing killingry as a sole alternative. Here and now, the time has come for the rest of us to pick up the lead and take it ...
