You may have read this before, amongst and alongst my verbosities, as I have blogged it before, and will do so by stating the question, again, here and now:
What the funk is ambidelic?
am•bi•del•ic / ˈæmbiˈdɛlɪk /
The word conveys a term to describe chill out music originating between the ears of psytrance producers, a neologism distilled from the potent mixture of ambient and psychedelic trance, first coined around two decades ago by Raja Ram*. It appears amidst some of his signature verbaliaisons on the cover of a TIP Records' release - at least, so it should, if my long-term-memory didn't pick up on a figment of the Imagine Nation. Dug through all my albums, 12 inches and cds, but I (still) cannot find the one sought for ... as of yet.
As I seem to be one of the few, travelling the blogosphere, to still use this particular and peculiar verbal expression (instead of the more generally used term psybient), it could have an elucidative effect to browse through my ambidelic tags and catch a glimpse of this musical universe next door to yours, or scroll down and click play thrice to hear a set of ambidelically spiced mixes ..
... nothing mandatory, yet enjoyable perhaps.
* Besides playing flute for Quintessence, co-creating The Infinity Project and TIP Records, Raja Ram delivers one of two hemispheres of the huge ever-spinning spellbinding brain that operates from the center of Shpongleland, with Simon Posford aka Hallucinogen supplying the countersphere.
